Frequently Asked Question
S’moresUp is best if you are looking for a chore, rewards, allowance, and family management system. It’s a Family Thing! is the newer experience built to guide families through tasks, routines, FamilyFun, and the First 45 Days. Families who already use S’moresUp can continue using it, or explore It’s a Family Thing! when they are ready for a more guided family rhythm.
Start by creating your family profile, then add adults and kids. After that, you can assign chores or tasks, choose rewards, and set up reminders. The S’moresUp handbook describes setup as the foundation for teamwork, roles, and accountability.
Yes. You can invite a partner, co-parent, or trusted adult so they can help manage the family system with you. The setup guidance specifically recommends inviting partners or co-parents so the load is shared.
Not always. Families can create child profiles and manage access based on age and setup needs. If a child has an email address, it may be used for login or app communication, but parents can still manage the child profile and security settings.
Yes, and that is the best way to begin. Start with a few simple chores, tasks, or routines, then add more as your family gets comfortable. The handbook recommends starting with a few tasks and rewards, then growing the system over time.
Parents create chores or tasks, assign them to family members, set schedules, and choose whether rewards or points are attached. S’moresUp supports chore assignment, tracking, rewards, and scheduling so families can manage responsibilities in one place.
Yes. Chores should match each child’s age, ability, and confidence level. The Getting Started material recommends tailoring responsibilities so younger kids get simple tasks and older kids can take on more complex responsibilities.
Yes. You can set chores to repeat on a schedule, such as once, daily, or weekly. S’moresUp also supports due times and reminders so family members know when something needs to be done.
Missed chores can be handled as teachable moments. Families can use reminders, make-up tasks, rescheduling, or family discussions to help kids understand accountability without turning the system into punishment.
Yes. Rotate is designed for shared responsibilities so one person does not always get the same task. It is especially useful for chores like dishes, pet care, trash, or setting the table.
S’mores points are the reward points kids earn for completing chores or responsibilities. They help turn everyday tasks into visible progress, and families can connect them to rewards, privileges, or allowance.
The common baseline is 100 S’mores = $1, but families can adjust the conversion rate to fit their own reward or allowance system.
Yes. Kids can save points toward short-term or long-term goals. This helps teach patience, planning, delayed gratification, and financial responsibility.
No. Rewards can be money, privileges, family experiences, screen time, special outings, or custom rewards that fit your family. Non-monetary rewards can be especially meaningful because they create shared memories and connection.
Yes. Reward approval lets parents review and approve reward redemptions before they are completed. This gives parents oversight and helps keep rewards aligned with family expectations.
Yes. You can create profiles for each child and customize their chores, rewards, profile settings, and access based on their age and needs.
Yes. Family settings include options to invite adults, view or edit adult profiles, and manage adult access within the family.
Yes. The family settings material describes a Home/Away status that can pause chores and notifications when a child is away, such as during vacations or breaks.
Yes. Notification settings can remind parents or kids about chores and notify family members when chores are completed. This helps reduce manual follow-up.
Yes. Campfire works like a family communication space where members can share updates, celebrate wins, coordinate tasks, and stay connected.
S’moresUp has a freemium model, with basic features available for free and advanced features available through a premium subscription.
Premium features can include tools like photo proof, lock chores, late penalties, automatic S’mores allocation, calendar chore display, cash-out options, and reward approval.
You can use the help center, FAQs, help videos, contact support, or in-app support options. S’moresUp’s support screen includes options such as Ask the Developers, User Manual, FAQs, Help Videos, and Feature Request.
Yes. The support area includes ways to ask developers, report issues, and submit feature requests. This helps the team understand what families need and improve the app over time.
Yes. The help center is designed as one shared front door for S’moresUp and It’s a Family Thing!, with product-specific landing pages for deeper help.
