How to Share Photos, Videos, and Links in Campfire

Campfire supports more than text.

Parents and children can share:

  • One photo
  • Multiple photos
  • Video
  • Links

These posts are shared with the whole family.

Use media when it adds something useful to the family update.

Photo Posts

A photo can help the family:

  • Celebrate a finished project
  • Share a memory
  • Show a family activity
  • Recognize a chore win
  • Pass along visual information

Examples:

  • A completed game-shelf cleanup
  • A family outing
  • A pet-care streak celebration
  • A picture of the item needed for school

Campfire supports one or multiple photos.

Video Posts

Video can help share:

  • A short family moment
  • A celebration
  • A quick update
  • A project result
  • A helpful demonstration

Keep videos short and appropriate for everyone in the household.

Exact duration and file-size limits should be verified.

Link Posts

Links can help the family open:

  • A school page
  • Event details
  • A family resource
  • A registration page
  • A shared activity

Before posting a link:

  • Check that it opens
  • Check that it is safe
  • Explain why the family needs it
  • Avoid links containing private login information

Link preview behavior should be verified.

Quick Start

  1. Open Campfire.
  2. Start a new post.

Exact media buttons may differ by device.

Photo Proof Is Different

Photo Proof belongs to a chore completion.

Campfire media is a family post.

Use Photo Proof when:

  • A chore requires a completion photo
  • The parent needs to review the finished result
  • Approval is connected to the chore

Use a Campfire photo when:

  • Celebrating the result
  • Sharing a family update
  • Posting a memory
  • Showing something to the whole household

A Campfire photo does not complete or approve a chore.

Child Media Permissions

Photo sharing is part of the child’s posting permission.

A parent can decide per child whether that child can:

  • View Campfire
  • Create posts
  • Share photos as part of a post

There is not a separate photo-sharing permission beyond posting in the confirmed model.

If a child should view but not publish media, turn off posting for that child.

Privacy Check Before Posting

Ask:

  • Does the photo show an address?
  • Does it show school identification?
  • Does it include a private document?
  • Does it show a password or code?
  • Is someone in the photo uncomfortable with it?
  • Does the video include private conversation?
  • Is the link meant for the whole household?

Remove or crop anything private before publishing.

Posts Cannot Be Edited

Media posts cannot be edited after publishing.

If the wrong photo, video, or link is attached:

  1. Delete the post.
  2. Create a corrected post.

The author can delete their own post.

A parent can delete a child’s post.

Deleting the post also removes its comments.

Use a Clear Caption

Add a short message so the family understands the media.

Instead of posting only a photo, try:

The game shelf is organized. Nice teamwork from Maya and Noah.

Instead of posting only a link, try:

Here is the school page for Saturday’s event. Please check the parking notes.

The caption makes the post useful later.

Keep Media Posts Focused

A good post has one purpose.

Avoid combining:

  • Several unrelated links
  • Many photos with no explanation
  • A long correction message
  • Private family matters
  • Content meant for only one person

Campfire is a whole-family space.

Sharing Community Posts to Campfire

A parent can share a Community post into the family Campfire.

That may bring home:

  • A reward idea
  • A parenting discussion
  • A family routine tip
  • A helpful Community photo post

Family Campfire posts cannot be shared in the other direction into Community.

Common Problems

The wrong media was posted

Delete the post promptly.

The upload fails

A child shares private content
