A Reminder or Notification Did Not Arrive

A missing reminder can come from:

  • Device permission
  • S’moresUp notification settings
  • Wrong profile
  • Wrong device
  • Reminder time
  • Chore schedule
  • Internet connection
  • App version
  • Device token registration

Use this checklist before adding more reminders.

Check Device Permission

S’moresUp checks Local Notification and Push Notification permission.

If permission is not granted, the app may show:

Turn on Notifications

Choosing Turn On can open the device’s notification settings.

Allow notifications for S’moresUp.

The exact screen differs on iOS and Android.

Check “Don’t Ask Again”

A user may choose Don’t ask again on the notification prompt.

That preference is stored for the user.

If the prompt no longer appears, open the device settings manually and allow notifications.

Check the Chore Reminder

Open the chore and confirm:

  • Reminder is on
  • Reminder time is correct
  • Due time is correct
  • Date and schedule are correct
  • The intended family member is assigned
  • The correct parent or child reminder is selected

Free includes one reminder per chore.

Premium supports multiple reminders.

Check the Right Device

A child reminder should reach the child’s connected profile and device.

A parent reminder should reach the parent’s device.

If the family uses a shared device, confirm the correct profile and notification registration.

Check Parent and Child Settings

S’moresUp can support different reminder and completion-notification roles.

Check whether:

  • Child receives the chore reminder
  • Parent receives a child chore reminder
  • Parent receives completion notification
  • Approval notification is expected

Remove alerts the family does not use.

Check the Time

A reminder may appear missing when:

  • Due time changed
  • Reminder is set after the due time
  • Device time zone is wrong
  • The chore is Anytime
  • The chore is As Needed
  • A repeating occurrence has not started yet

Review the actual next occurrence.

Update and Reopen

Try:

  1. Update S’moresUp.
  2. Confirm internet access.
  3. Force-close the app.
  4. Reopen it.
  5. Check the reminder again.
  6. Restart the device if needed.

The app registers the device for push notifications after permission is granted.

Away Status

When a child is Away, their chores are excused and hidden from pending.

Reminder behavior while Away is not confirmed in the current product documentation.

Do not assume that every reminder stops automatically.

Smart Appliance Notifications

Smart appliance integrations can generate a follow-up chore and notification.

If a dishwasher or washer event does not create the expected chore, check:

  • Connected partner account
  • Device status
  • Internet connection
  • App update
  • Notification permission

Smart appliance notifications are not Premium-only.
