Campfire and Community both support conversation, but they are meant for different groups.
Campfire is for your household. Community is for parents who want to connect with the wider S’moresUp community.
Keeping that difference clear helps families know who can see a post and where it belongs.
Campfire Is for Your Family
Campfire is the family communication space inside S’moresUp.
Parents and children can use it to share:
- Text updates
- One or more photos
- Videos
- Links
- Chore celebrations
- Family reminders
- Reward announcements
- Questions
- Check-ins
- Everyday family moments
A Campfire post is shared with the whole family.
It cannot be limited to one person or selected family members.
Community Is for Parents
Community is a separate parent-only space.
Parents can use it to:
- Read posts from other parents
- Ask questions
- Share ideas
- Comment
- React
- Share photos
- Learn from other families
Children cannot view or participate in Community.
Who Can Post?
Campfire
Both parents and children can create posts, based on the child’s Campfire permissions.
Community
Parents can create posts.
Every parent-created Community post is reviewed by admins before it is approved for publication.
That means a submitted Community post may not appear right away.

Campfire is the better place for day-to-day family communication.
Community is the better place for parent conversations beyond the household.
Sharing Between the Two Spaces
Sharing works in one direction:
Community post → Family Campfire
A parent can share a useful Community post with the family.
A family Campfire post cannot be cross-posted into Community.
This helps keep family content private while still letting parents bring helpful ideas home.
Separate Community Profile
A parent uses a separate Community profile.
It can include:
- A Community-specific name
- A Community-specific image
Community does not display:
- Family name
- Child names
- Child information
- Location
This keeps the public Community identity separate from the household profile.
Post Management Is Different
Campfire
- Posts cannot be edited after publishing
- Authors can delete their own posts
- Parents can delete a child’s post

Community
- A creator can delete their own post
- Other parents can report a post
- A reported post disappears from the reporting parent’s view
- The post is sent for admin review

- Users cannot mute another user
- Comments cannot currently be reported
