Cash-Out lets a child turn part of their S’mores balance into an allowance request.
S’moresUp records the request and removes the approved S’mores.
It does not send real money.
The parent pays the child outside the app.
The Basic Cash-Out Flow
- The child chooses Cash-Out.
- The child enters or selects the amount.
- The parent reviews the request.
- The parent approves it.
- The S’mores are removed from the child’s account.
- Wallet records the transaction.
- The parent settles the money outside S’moresUp.
The exact buttons and status labels should be verified.
Set the Conversion Rate First
Cash-Out needs a clear family conversion rate.
A common starting point is:
100 S’mores = $1
Example:
A child requests a Cash-Out of 500 S’mores.
At 100 S’mores = $1, the parent owes $5.
The family can use a different rate.
Explain the Family Rule
Before the first request, decide:
- Which children can use Cash-Out
- Which day requests are reviewed
- The conversion rate
- The smallest or largest request
- Which balance is available
- How the parent will pay
- Whether Save and Goal stay protected
- How long payment may take
Try:
Cash-Out requests are reviewed on Sunday. We use 100 S’mores = $1, and I will pay outside the app.
The Child Requests Cash-Out
The child should check:
- Available S’mores
- Conversion rate
- How much money the request represents
- Whether the family Cash-Out day has arrived
- Whether they still want to keep S’mores for rewards or goals
Cash-Out is a spending choice.
It may slow progress toward another reward.
The Parent Reviews the Request
Check:
- Is the request from the correct child?
- Does the child have enough S’mores?
- Does the amount match the conversion?
- Does it follow the family rule?
- Can the parent settle the payment?
- Is the child using S’mores already committed to another plan?
Approval should happen before the real-world payment.
After Approval
When approved:
- The requested S’mores are removed
- Wallet records the Cash-Out
- The parent owes the money outside the app
The parent may pay using:
- Cash
- A normal digital payment method
- A regular allowance payment
- Another family-approved method
S’moresUp does not move the funds.
Marking or Tracking Payment
The product may include a status showing whether the parent settled the Cash-Out.
Confirm the current paid or completed flow before publication.
The family should still keep a simple habit:
- Approve the request.
- Pay the child.
- Confirm the Wallet record and any status.
Which Account Is Used?
Cash-Out uses S’mores from the child’s available account according to the current Wallet flow.
Families should generally treat Spend as the balance available for Cash-Out.
If S’mores are in Save or Goal, move them only after discussing the tradeoff.
Confirm the exact source-account behavior in the app.
Cash-Out and Automatic Allocation
Automatic allocation can keep some earnings away from immediate Cash-Out.
Example:
- 60% Spend
- 25% Save
- 15% Goal
The child may use Spend for Cash-Out while the other accounts continue growing.
This can reduce the need for parents to say no after every request.
Cash-Out Versus Rewards
Cash-Out is one use for S’mores.
The child may instead choose:
- A Reward Shelf item
- A non-money privilege
- A savings goal
- Sending S’mores
- A family reward contribution
Help the child compare choices.
