How Today’s Progress Works

Today’s Progress is the daily working view in S’moresUp.

It helps families see what is due now, what is waiting for approval, and what has already been completed.

The view should make one thing clear:

What needs attention today?

Family View and Member View

You can review activity for:

  • The whole family
  • One family member

The family view helps a parent see the day across everyone.

A member view helps a child focus on their own responsibilities.

Use the member filter when the full family list feels too busy.

Pending Chores

Pending chores still need action.

A pending chore may show:

  • Chore name
  • Assigned family member
  • Due time
  • S’mores value
  • Reminder
  • Approval or Photo Proof requirement
  • Late or locked state

Children should complete the real work before marking the chore done.

Chores Waiting for Approval

When Parent Approval is on, a completed chore waits for an adult.

The parent can review:

  • The result
  • Instructions
  • Photo Proof
  • Whether the finish line was met

When approved:

  • The chore becomes completed
  • S’mores are awarded
  • Automatic Wallet allocation happens

When rejected:

  • The chore returns to the active list
  • No S’mores are awarded
  • The original submitted photo is no longer visible
  • The child can correct and submit again

Completed Chores

Completed chores show what the family finished today.

Use the completed area to notice contribution.

Try:

You completed the pet-care chore before the reminder today.

Specific recognition helps children understand what worked.

View Styles

The shared platform may include:

  • Slider
  • Stack
  • List
  • Weekly

Slider, Stack, and List are different ways to see the daily chore cards.

Choose the style that makes the next action easiest to understand.

Slider

Useful when focusing on one card at a time.

Stack

Useful when the family likes a visual card flow.

List

Useful when several chores need to be scanned quickly.

Weekly

Moves from today’s activity to the broader week.

Confirm exact current labels and placement before publication.

Quick Completion

Some chores may be completed directly from the card.

Other chores may require the full detail view because they include:

  • Instructions
  • A Smart List
  • Photo Proof
  • Approval
  • Other controls

Do not use quick completion if the family member has not completed the real work.

Late and Locked Chores

A chore may show as late after the due time.

If Late Penalty is enabled, the family member can still complete it for fewer S’mores.

If Lock is enabled, the incomplete chore becomes locked after it is past due.

The exact card icon or message should be verified.

Daily Streaks

A family member can build a daily streak by accounting for the chores assigned that day.

Current shared-platform rules include:

  • Completing late on the same day can still count
  • Completing the next day does not restore the streak
  • A missed chore breaks the streak
  • A rejected chore breaks the streak
  • An excused chore preserves the streak

Use streaks as progress, not pressure.

A Three-Minute Daily Check-In

Step 1: Open Today’s Progress

Choose the whole family or one member.

Step 2: Check Pending

Look for time-sensitive chores.

Step 3: Check Approval

Use Weekly View for larger adjustments.

Example

Noah’s afternoon shows:

  • Put lunchbox in sink — pending
  • Feed dog — waiting for approval
  • Pack sports bag — completed

The parent can approve the dog chore.

Noah can complete the lunchbox chore.

The sports-bag completion stays visible as progress.
