Popular
Community is a parent-only space.
It uses a separate parent Community profile and includes admin review and safety controls.
These tools help keep the wider parent conversation separate from the household.
Separate Community Profile
A parent can set a Community-specific:
- Name
- Image
This profile is separate from the family profile.
Community does not show:
- Family name
- Child names
- Child information
- Location
Choose a name and image that feel appropriate for a wider parent audience.
Protect Child Information
Even though child details are not automatically displayed, parents still need to protect them in posts and comments.
Avoid sharing:
- Full child names
- School name
- Home address
- Exact location
- Medical information
- Daily travel patterns
- Private family conflict
- Identifying documents
- Photos revealing private details
Community is broader than the household Campfire.
Admin Review of New Posts
Every parent-created Community post is reviewed by admins before publication.
This includes posts with photos.
The review process means:
- The post may not appear right away
- Repeated submission is not needed
- Content may be held or handled based on Community standards
- Admins review before the wider Community sees it
Exact approval and rejection messages should be verified.
Creator Deletion
A parent can delete a Community post they created.
Other users cannot delete it directly.
Before deleting, remember that comments and conversation attached to the post may be affected.
Exact comment-removal behavior after deletion should be verified.
Report a Post
A parent can report another Community post.
Reporting:
- Hides the post from that parent’s view
- Sends the reported post for admin review
Reporting is useful for content that may be:
- Unsafe
- Abusive
- Misleading
- Inappropriate
- Private
- Against Community standards
The post disappearing from the reporter’s view does not mean the final admin decision has already been made.
Comments Cannot Be Reported
The current controls do not support reporting an individual comment.
When a comment creates a safety or moderation concern:
- Review whether blocking the user is appropriate
- Report the related post if the concern applies to it
- Use in-app Help for unresolved issues
- Avoid continuing a harmful exchange
Need help? Open Help in the S’moresUp app and send us a message. This is the fastest way to reach the support team.
Block a User
Parents can block another Community user.
Use Block when a parent no longer wants interaction with that user.
The exact effects should be verified, including whether blocking changes:
- Post visibility
- Comment visibility
- Future interaction
- Search or profile visibility
- Existing conversation
Do not describe Block as the same as reporting.
Report Versus Block
Report
Sends a post for admin review and hides that post from the reporter.
Block
Changes the parent’s relationship or visibility with another user.
A parent may use one or both based on the problem.
Hide an Individual Post
Reporting hides the reported post from the parent’s view.
There is no separate confirmed Hide action beyond that report behavior.
Do not report a harmless post only to use reporting as a general preference tool.
Mute Is Not Available
Community does not currently support muting a user.
Use:
- Block
- Report
- Turn off Community, for Premium families
- In-app Help
based on the situation.
Community Reactions and Comments
Parents can comment and react.
Children cannot.
Comments cannot currently be reported.
Exact Community reaction types and comment-deletion controls should be verified.
Sharing Community Posts with Family
A parent can share a Community post into family Campfire.
Before sharing, check:
- Is the post appropriate for children?
- Does it contain private parent discussion?
- Is the idea useful to the household?
- Does the family need the full post?
A family post cannot be cross-posted into Community.
When to Contact Support
Use in-app Help when:
- A report involves safety
- Blocking does not solve the problem
- A post contains private child information
- Harassment continues
- The parent cannot remove their own post
- A profile displays incorrect information
- Community controls do not work
For an urgent real-world safety issue, use the appropriate local emergency or safety resources outside the app.
