How Task Streaks Work

A streak can help a family notice that a task is becoming part of the routine. IAFT tracks each repeating task separately, so one habit can grow even when another habit still needs work.

Quick Start

  1. Choose a repeating task.
  2. Complete each scheduled occurrence on the correct day.
  3. Check the streak shown on the edge of the task card.
  4. Use Excuse when a parent needs to skip one valid occurrence.

How a task streak grows

  • Each scheduled occurrence counts toward that task’s streak.
  • Completing it late on the same day can still count.
  • Completing it the next day does not restore the streak.

What breaks or preserves it

  • A missed task breaks the streak.
  • A rejected task breaks the streak.
  • An excused task preserves the streak but does not earn S’mores.

Use streaks without pressure

  • Treat the streak as information.
  • Celebrate consistency without shaming a restart.
  • If the streak keeps breaking, check the task timing and clarity.

Family Example

A child completes Feed the dog every scheduled morning for five days. The task card shows a five-occurrence streak. If Tuesday is excused by a parent, the streak can continue without S’mores for that occurrence.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Pick one repeating task and check its current streak on the task card.
