A Chore Is Missing or Showing for the Wrong Person

A chore may look missing because of:

  • Wrong profile
  • Wrong family member filter
  • Assignment
  • Schedule
  • Start date
  • Home or Away status
  • Rotate, Collaborate, or Compete behavior
  • Archived family
  • Sync delay

Use this checklist before creating the chore again.

Check the Current Profile

Confirm whether the app is showing:

  • Whole family
  • One parent
  • One child

A child sees chores connected to that profile.

A parent may see the full family or a filtered member view.

Check the Assignment

Open the chore and confirm:

  • Assigned member
  • Selected participants
  • Rotate members
  • Collaborate members
  • Compete eligibility

A chore assigned to another person will not appear in the expected child’s pending list.

Check the Date and Schedule

Review:

  • Start date
  • Due day
  • Due time
  • Repeat pattern
  • Selected weekdays
  • Custom frequency
  • Future occurrence settings

A repeating chore may not appear until its next valid occurrence.

Check Home or Away Status

Home and Away is set per child.

When a child is Away:

  • Assigned chores are excused
  • Existing pending chores are hidden
  • Future occurrences continue to be skipped
  • Schedules are preserved
  • Streaks are not affected

Switch the child back to Home when they return.

There is no automatic end date.

Check Shared Chore Types

While a child is Away:

  • Rotate chores may be assigned to other members
  • Collaborate chores may continue with available members
  • Compete chores may be available to other members

When the child returns Home, the shared assignment behavior resumes.

Check Chore Type

Individual

Only the assigned person sees the chore.

As Needed

The chore appears without a normal due time and can be completed when needed.

Rotate

The assigned person changes by occurrence.

Collaborate

Selected participants share the work.

Compete

Eligible members may see the chore until someone completes it.

Bonus

The optional chore may appear in the Bonus area rather than the normal list.

Check Filters and View

Review:

  • Today’s Progress member filter
  • Weekly View member filter
  • Category grouping
  • Date
  • Pending, approval, or completed state
  • Calendar chore display

A chore may be visible in Weekly View even when it is no longer pending today.

Check Approval or Rejection

A completed chore may be:

  • Waiting for approval
  • Rejected and returned to active
  • Moved back to pending

Check the Approval area and Weekly View.

Refresh the Family Data

Try:

  1. Check the internet connection.
  2. Force-close S’moresUp.
  3. Reopen the app.
  4. Confirm the family and profile.
  5. Sign out and back in if safe.

Do not create a duplicate chore until the existing one is found.
