How Tasks Work in IAFT

Tasks are the building blocks of It’s a Family Thing!. They turn household expectations into visible, assignable, trackable actions.

Quick Start

  1. Choose one simple task.
  2. Check the owner, timing, and expected result.
  3. Save or complete the task.
  4. Review what happened before adding more.

Why this helps

Clear tasks can reduce repeated reminders and give children a better chance to follow through.

What a task includes

A task usually includes a name, who owns it, when it is due, whether it repeats, whether reminders are needed, and whether a parent needs to approve it. These details help remove the gray area from everyday family responsibilities.

Why tasks reduce mental load

When a task is only spoken out loud, someone still has to remember it. When it is in the app, the family can see it. That shift matters because it moves responsibility out of one parent’s memory and into a shared system.

Use tasks for routines

Tasks work well for repeated responsibilities like morning routines, pet care, tasks, homework setup, bedtime reset, and weekend cleanup.

Use tasks for small handoffs

The best task is not always the biggest one. Sometimes the most useful task is the one that makes a daily handoff clear, like put shoes by the door or place lunchbox on the counter.

Family Example

Choose one moment where you usually repeat yourself. Turn that repeated reminder into a task.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Choose one moment where you usually repeat yourself. Turn that repeated reminder into a task.
