Getting Started with S’moresUp

Welcome! Your family is ready to get started.

You do not have to set up everything today.

The best way to begin is simple:

  • Open the app.
  • Complete one task.
  • Celebrate your first win.

Everything else can come later.

This guide walks you through the basics so you can get comfortable one step at a time.

Your First Day in S’moresUp

If you only have five minutes today, do these three things:

  1. Open the app.
  2. Complete one task.
  3. Check Today’s Progress.

That is enough for Day 1.

Step 1: Open or Install S’moresUp

If S’moresUp is already installed on your phone or tablet, open the app and sign in.

If you do not have it installed, download S’moresUp from your device’s app store. After it is installed, sign in with the email address you used for your family account.

If another parent or family member created the family setup, ask them to invite you again or resend the invite from Family Settings.

Step 2: Check Your Family Setup

After signing in, take a minute to make sure your family is set up correctly.

Look for:

  • Your family name
  • Parent or adult profiles
  • Child profiles
  • Profile pictures or avatars, if added
  • Any tasks already assigned

Your family setup tells S’moresUp who is in your family, who can complete tasks, who can approve tasks, and who can manage rewards.

Step 3: Start Small

You do not need every chore in your home.

Start with about five tasks your family already understands.

Good starter tasks include:

  • Make the bed
  • Feed the pet
  • Put dishes in the sink or dishwasher
  • Pack a backpack
  • Clear the table
  • Take out trash or recycling
  • Put toys or personal items away

About five tasks are enough to help your family learn the system without making it feel overwhelming.

Step 4: Review Today’s Progress

Today’s Progress shows what needs your attention today.

You will usually see:

  • Pending — Tasks that still need to be done
  • Approvals — Tasks completed by kids that need a parent to review
  • Completed — Tasks that are finished

Use Today’s Progress as your daily check-in.

Step 5: Help Each Child Know What to Do

Kids do better when tasks are simple and clear.

For each task, make sure they know:

  • What the task means
  • When it should be done
  • How to mark it complete
  • Whether a parent needs to approve it
  • Whether they earn S’mores

Instead of saying, “Clean your room,” try smaller tasks like:

  • Put clothes in the hamper
  • Put books on the shelf
  • Put toys in the bin
  • Make the bed

Clear tasks mean fewer reminders and fewer arguments.

Step 6: Add One Reward

S’moresUp works best when kids know what they are working toward.

Start with one reward, such as:

  • Extra screen time
  • Choosing the family movie
  • A small treat
  • Staying up 15 minutes later on the weekend
  • Family game night
  • Saving toward something bigger

Start with just one reward. You can always add more later.

Step 7: Set One Reminder

Pick one task you remind your child about the most.

Add a due time and reminder.

Examples:

  • Feed the dog by 7:30 AM
  • Pack backpack by 7:45 AM
  • Put dishes away by 6:30 PM
  • Start homework by 4:30 PM

One reminder is enough to get started.

Step 8: Spend Three Minutes Each Day

Spend less than three minutes checking the app.

Ask:

  • What is still pending?
  • What needs approval?
  • What should we celebrate today?
  • Is one task causing confusion?

A quick daily check-in keeps everything running smoothly.

Step 9: Look Back at Your Week

At the end of the week, open Weekly View and look for patterns.

Ask:

  • Which tasks were completed often?
  • Which tasks were missed?
  • Was the due time right?
  • Was the task clear?
  • Did the reward motivate my child?
  • Do we need fewer tasks?

Make one small change instead of rebuilding everything.

Common Issues

I Do Not See My Family Setup

Make sure you signed in with the same email address that was invited. If another adult created the family, ask them to resend the invitation.

My Child Does Not Know Where to Start

Open Today’s Progress and pick one task due today.

The Setup Feels Overwhelming

Ignore anything you do not need yet. Start with chores, one reminder, and one reward.

I Added Too Many Tasks

Keep the few tasks that matter most this week. Add more later when your family is ready.

Best First Action

Open S’moresUp today.

Complete one task.

That is all you need to do.

One task helps your family understand how S’moresUp works.

Tomorrow, you can do one more.
