How Reward Approval Works

Some rewards need a parent’s permission. They may involve screen time, money, a family schedule, or something the parent needs to provide. Reward approval keeps the request visible and gives the parent control before anything is redeemed.

Quick Start

  1. Create a reward and set its S’mores cost.
  2. Turn on reward approval in the advanced reward settings.
  3. Let the member request the reward.
  4. Approve or reject the request.
  5. When approved, the S’mores are deducted automatically.

What approval does

  • The reward waits for parent review.
  • The parent can approve or reject it.
  • The required S’mores are removed only when the reward is approved.

When approval helps

  • The reward costs money.
  • The reward affects screen time or bedtime.
  • The family needs to schedule an activity.
  • The child is still learning how redemptions work.

Keep requests predictable

  • Explain which rewards are available.
  • Set a clear S’mores cost.
  • Do not offer a reward the family cannot honor.

Family Example

A child requests 30 minutes of extra screen time. The parent reviews the request, approves it, and IAFT deducts the reward cost from the child’s S’mores.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Turn on approval for one reward that requires parent permission.
