Understanding the Main Areas of S’moresUp

S’moresUp brings chores, schedules, rewards, allowance, family plans, progress, and communication into one family system.

You do not need to learn every screen on the first day.

Start with the area your family will use most: chores. Then explore the Reward Shelf, Wallet, Family Calendar, Weekly View, and Campfire as the family gets comfortable.

Exact button placement may differ between iOS and Android, but the purpose of each area stays the same.

Chores and Daily Progress

Chores are the center of S’moresUp.

Parents use the chore area to:

  • Create chores
  • Assign family members
  • Set schedules
  • Add due times
  • Add reminders
  • Set S’mores values
  • Turn on approval or Photo Proof
  • Choose advanced chore types

Kids use their profile to:

  • See what is due
  • Read instructions
  • Complete the work
  • Mark chores done
  • Add Photo Proof when required
  • Track completed chores and earned S’mores

A child should be able to open S’moresUp and quickly answer:

What do I need to do next?

If the daily view feels crowded, reduce the number of active chores or make the chore names clearer.

Pending, Approval, and Completed

Chores can appear in different states.

Pending

Pending chores still need action.

Look here for work due today or work that has not been marked complete.

Approval

Approval shows chores completed by a child but waiting for parent review.

Use approval for chores where the result matters. Review the queue regularly so kids do not wait too long for feedback or S’mores.

Completed

Completed shows what the family finished.

Use this area to make contribution visible. Do not look only for what is missing.

The exact labels may vary by current app version, but the basic flow stays the same.

Reward Shelf

The Reward Shelf shows children what their S’mores can unlock.

Parents can create rewards such as:

  • Choose the family movie
  • Extra game time
  • Pick dinner
  • A special outing
  • A small allowance cash-out
  • Save toward a book, toy, or activity

A useful Reward Shelf includes:

  • One small reward
  • One medium reward
  • One larger savings goal

Remove rewards the family cannot honor. A reward system works only when the choices are real.

Wallet

The Wallet helps families track the S’mores connected to chores and rewards.

Depending on the current account and feature access, it may show:

  • Earned S’mores
  • Available S’mores
  • Saved S’mores
  • Reward transactions
  • Bonus or Penalty
  • Cash-Out activity
  • Send or Request activity
  • Savings goals

Use the Wallet to help children practice:

  • Earning
  • Spending
  • Saving
  • Comparing choices
  • Waiting for a larger goal

Exact Wallet actions and approval behavior should be verified before publishing detailed instructions.

Family Calendar

The Family Calendar keeps family events and plans visible in one shared place.

Use it for:

  • School events
  • Appointments
  • Practices
  • Trips
  • Family activities
  • Deadlines
  • Special events

A calendar is useful only when the information is current.

Choose one adult to keep key events updated, then review the week with the family.

Connected-family calendar sharing is not part of the new S’moresUp Help Center because connected-family capabilities are moving out of S’moresUp.

Weekly View

Weekly View is the reporting experience in S’moresUp.

Use it to review:

  • Chores across the week
  • Pending chores
  • Completed chores
  • Approval-needed chores
  • Repeated misses
  • Workload by family member
  • Chore categories
  • Chores that need a better schedule

Weekly View is not only for checking whether kids finished everything.

It helps parents improve the family system.

For example:

  • A chore missed every Tuesday may have the wrong schedule.
  • A child with too many evening chores may need a fairer workload.
  • A chore waiting for approval all week may not need approval.
  • A low completion pattern may mean the instructions are unclear.

Open Weekly View, celebrate one win, and fix one chore that keeps getting missed.

Campfire

Campfire is the family communication space in S’moresUp.

Use it for:

  • Family updates
  • Photos
  • Encouragement
  • Weekly goals
  • Reward announcements
  • Celebration posts
  • Questions
  • Simple reminders

Campfire works best when it includes more than correction.

Instead of posting only:

Remember your chores.

Also post:

Nice work keeping the pet-care streak going this week.

Specific recognition makes progress feel real.

Community

Community is the broader parent space in S’moresUp, where available.

Parents may use it to:

  • Ask questions
  • Share ideas
  • Learn from other families
  • Find reward ideas
  • Discuss common family-management challenges

Community is optional. Families can keep S’moresUp focused on their own household.

Confirm current Community availability, posting options, and turn-off settings before publication.

Settings

Settings is where parents manage how S’moresUp works for the family.

Common areas can include:

  • Family Settings
  • Child and adult profiles
  • Profile PINs
  • Chore Settings
  • Notification Settings
  • Reward Settings
  • General Settings
  • Subscription or Premium access
  • Support options

Settings can affect the whole family. Change one setting at a time and check the result.

A Good Order for New Families

You do not need to explore every area immediately.

Try this order:

  1. Set up the family.
  2. Create and complete a few chores.
  3. Add S’mores and one Reward Shelf item.
  4. Add one useful reminder.
  5. Open Weekly View at the end of the week.
  6. Add Calendar events the family needs.
  7. Use Campfire for updates and celebrations.
  8. Explore advanced or Premium controls only when needed.

This keeps the family focused on using the system instead of touring every feature.
