How to Invite a Family Member to S’moresUp

An invitation connects a family member to the same S’moresUp household from another device.

Create the person’s profile first. Then invite them to use that profile.

This keeps chores, S’mores, reminders, Wallet information, and progress connected to the same person.

Quick Start

  1. Open family-member settings from a parent profile.
  2. Confirm the person already has one profile.
  3. Choose the profile.
  4. Select the current invite or device-access option.
  5. Send or show the invitation.
  6. Open it on the new device.
  7. Join the correct family and profile.
  8. Allow notifications.
  9. Complete one test chore.

Add the Profile Before Sending Access

The profile should exist before the family member joins.

Confirm:

  • Correct name
  • Correct photo
  • Adult or child role
  • No duplicate profile
  • One test chore assigned

Do not create a new person only because the same family member is joining from another device.

Current Invitation Methods

The shared platform may support methods such as:

  • Email invitation
  • Dynamic link
  • QR code
  • Invite code
  • Device-linking flow

Exact options may differ for adults and children.

Verify the current S’moresUp screen before publishing exact steps.

Join the Correct Household

On the new device:

  1. Open the invitation.
  2. Install or open S’moresUp.
  3. Follow the join steps.
  4. Confirm the family name.
  5. Confirm the person’s profile.
  6. Finish the access setup.

Stop if the invitation shows the wrong family.

Do not continue and create another profile.

Confirm the Correct Profile

After joining, check:

  • The family member’s name and photo
  • Assigned chores
  • S’mores or Wallet information
  • Reward Shelf access
  • Reminder settings
  • Parent or child view

The person should not see another family member’s chores as their own.

Allow Notifications

If the device should receive reminders:

  • Allow S’moresUp notifications
  • Check Focus or Do Not Disturb
  • Review battery-saving settings
  • Confirm the correct profile
  • Add one test reminder

Parent and child reminders can be separate.

Test One Chore

Use a simple test.

Chore: Put shoes by the door
Due: Later today
Reminder: 15 minutes before

Confirm:

  • The chore appears
  • The reminder arrives
  • The person can mark it complete
  • Approval works if enabled
  • S’mores go to the correct profile

Same Household, Not Connected Families

This invitation adds a person to the same S’moresUp family.

It should not be confused with:

  • Another household
  • Shared calendars between households
  • Connected-family Campfire sharing

Connected-family features are not part of the new S’moresUp Help Center.

If the Invitation Does Not Work

Check:

  • Was the invitation opened on the intended device?
  • Is S’moresUp installed?
  • Is the link still valid?
  • Is the person already connected?
  • Did the person sign into another account?
  • Does a duplicate profile exist?
  • Is the family name correct?
  • Does the device have internet access?

Generate a new invitation only after checking the existing profile.

Common Problems

The link opens the app but not the family

Reopen the invitation and confirm the account.

The person sees the wrong profile

Check whether they joined with another account or selected the wrong person.

The child has no chores

Confirm the child profile is assigned to the chores.

Notifications do not arrive

Check device and app notification settings.

The family member changed phones

Link the existing profile to the new device. Do not add a duplicate person.
