A child profile connects chores, reminders, S’mores, rewards, Wallet activity, and progress to the right child.
Add one profile for each child who will use S’moresUp.
Then test the profile with one familiar chore before creating the full family setup.
Quick Start
- Open the family-member area from a parent profile.
- Choose to add a child.
- Enter the requested profile information.
- Add a name and photo the child will recognize.
- Choose shared-device or personal-device access.
- Add or confirm a profile PIN.
- Assign one simple chore.
- Open the child view and test it.
Exact buttons may differ between iOS and Android.
Use a Recognizable Name and Photo
The profile should be easy to find.
Use:
- The child’s usual first name
- A familiar nickname
- A clear profile photo or avatar
“Maya” is clearer than “Child Profile 2.”
Add the Requested Profile Information
Depending on the current app version, the child profile may include:
- Name
- Photo or avatar
- Birthdate
- Profile PIN
- Device access
- Notification preferences
- Chore display options
- Reward or Wallet access
- Campfire access
- Home or Away status
Only add information needed for the current setup.
Confirm which fields are required before publishing exact screenshots.
Choose Shared-Device or Personal-Device Access
Shared device
Use a shared device when the child:
- Is younger
- Does not have a phone
- Needs help reading chores
- Is learning how the app works
- Uses a family tablet
The child can open their profile, complete chores, and see S’mores with parent help.
Personal device
Use a personal device when the child is ready to:
- Check chores without help
- Receive reminders
- Mark work complete
- Add Photo Proof
- Review rewards and Wallet activity
- Take more ownership
S’moresUp supports iOS and Android.
Add a Profile PIN
A PIN helps protect the profile on a shared device.
For younger children, the parent may manage the PIN.
For older children, the child can use the PIN to enter the correct profile while adult profiles remain protected.
Exact PIN length and reset behavior should be verified.
Assign the First Chore
Choose one chore the child already understands.
Good examples:
- Put laundry in the hamper
- Feed the pet
- Put shoes by the door
- Clear the dinner plate
- Pack the backpack
- Put toys in the basket
Keep the first setup simple:
Chore: Put laundry in the hamper
Assigned to: Maya
Schedule: Daily
Timing: Anytime
S’mores: 5
The first goal is to confirm that the profile and assignment work.
Test the Child View
Open the child profile and check:
- Can the child see the chore?
- Is the name clear?
- Is the due day or time correct?
- Are the instructions easy to understand?
- Is the S’mores value visible?
- Can the child mark the chore complete?
- Does Photo Proof appear when required?
- Does approval work as expected?
Fix the profile or chore before adding many more.
Add a Reward the Child Understands
Create one simple Reward Shelf item.
Examples:
- Choose the family movie
- Extra game time
- Pick dessert
- Save toward a book
- Choose a weekend activity
Let the child see how completed work becomes S’mores and how S’mores connect to a reward.
Set Up Notifications
If the child uses a personal device:
- Allow S’moresUp notifications
- Check the assigned profile
- Add one useful chore reminder
- Test the reminder
- Reduce extra notifications
If the child uses a shared device, a parent may receive the reminder.
Common Problems
The child cannot see the chore
Check the assigned profile, schedule, start date, and family account.
The child opens the wrong profile
Use profile photos and PINs.
The child receives no reminders
Check device permission and the chore reminder.
The profile was created twice
Stop using the duplicate and confirm removal behavior before deleting it.
The child has a new device
Update access for the existing profile instead of creating a new person.
Common Questions
Does the child need an email address?
Not always. Exact requirements depend on the current independent-access flow.
Can a child use a parent’s phone?
Yes.
Can I add chores before inviting the child?
Yes. Create the profile and assign chores, then connect the child’s access.
Can I change the profile later?
Yes. Edit the existing profile when information or access changes.
Should the first chore require approval?
Only when you want to teach the approval flow or the result needs review.
Best First Action
Add the child profile and assign one chore that takes less than five minutes.
Open the child view and complete the full chore flow together.
