Edit a profile when the person stays the same but their information or access changes.
Do not create a second profile only because a child gets a new device, changes an email address, or needs a new PIN.
One profile keeps chores, S’mores, Wallet activity, rewards, streaks, and history connected.
Quick Start
- Open the family-member area from a parent profile.
- Choose the person.
- Open Edit.
- Change the needed information.
- Save.
- Check chores, reminders, and device access.
- Test the updated profile.
When to Edit
Edit the profile when:
- The name changes
- The photo should change
- The child needs a new PIN
- The person gets a new device
- The email changes
- Notification preferences change
- Access level changes
- The child becomes more independent
- Display preferences should change
- Home or Away status changes, where supported
The goal is to update the person—not replace them.
Possible Profile Fields
Depending on the current app version, editable fields may include:
- Name
- Photo or avatar
- Birthdate
- PIN
- Notification preferences
- Device access
- Chore display settings
- Reward or Wallet visibility
- Campfire access
- Home or Away status
Confirm the current fields and required information before publication.
Change a Name or Photo
Use the name and image the family member recognizes.
After changing them:
- Check the profile chooser
- Check assigned chores
- Check Weekly View
- Confirm the child can find the profile
The history should remain connected to the same member.
Change a PIN
Change a PIN when:
- It was forgotten
- Siblings learned it
- Adult access needs stronger protection
- A caregiver no longer needs access
- The device was lost
Test the new PIN before closing settings.
Change Device Access
When a child moves from a shared device to a personal device:
- Keep the same profile
- Use the current invitation or linking flow
- Allow notifications
- Test one reminder
- Confirm the correct chores and Wallet information
Do not add the child again.
Change Notification Preferences
Adjust notifications when:
- The child is ready for more independence
- The parent no longer needs every completion alert
- Reminders arrive at the wrong time
- The family changes devices
- Notifications have become noise
Keep only updates that lead to useful action.
Review Chores After Editing
A profile edit should not automatically rewrite the chore system.
Still check:
- Active chores
- Rotate participant lists
- Collaborate participants
- Compete eligibility
- As Needed access
- Bonus visibility
- Reminders
- Approval notifications
A change in age or access may mean the chore setup should also change.
Review S’mores and Wallet Information
Confirm:
- S’mores remain connected
- Save and Spend remain correct
- Reward Shelf activity is visible
- Savings goals remain connected
- Wallet transactions belong to the same person
Avoid deleting and recreating a profile to solve an access problem.
Changing Adult and Child Roles
Do not assume a profile can be changed freely between adult and child roles.
Role changes can affect:
- Family permissions
- Approval access
- Settings access
- Wallet visibility
- Subscription controls
- Campfire access
Confirm the current product behavior before publishing role-change instructions.
Common Problems
A duplicate profile already exists
Stop using the duplicate and confirm removal consequences before deleting it.
The child’s new device has no chores
Check whether the existing profile was linked.
The old device still has access
Confirm current device unlinking or sign-out controls.
The name changed but reminders did not
Check the assigned profile and device notification settings.
The parent cannot change the role
Use in-app Help to confirm the current permission model.
Common Questions
Will editing erase history?
It should keep the same person and history. Verify high-risk field changes before publication.
Can I change the email?
Confirm the current account and login behavior.
Can I turn a child into an adult profile?
Confirm the current role-change support.
Can I remove an old device?
Confirm the current device-access controls.
Should I add a new profile after a legal name change?
No. Edit the existing person.
Best First Action
Open one family member profile and check the name, photo, PIN, and device access.
Update only what changed, then test one assigned chore.
