What Happens to a Streak When a Task Is Late, Missed, Rejected, or Excused

Streak rules can feel confusing when a task is late, missed, rejected, or excused. The key difference is whether the task was completed on the correct day or whether a parent intentionally excused it.

Quick Start

  1. Complete the task on its scheduled day, even if it is late.
  2. Do not rely on next-day completion to restore the streak.
  3. Use Excuse for a valid exception.
  4. Fix rejected work and rebuild the streak from the next valid completion.

Late on the same day

  • The task can still count toward the streak.

Completed the next day

  • It does not restore the previous day’s streak.

Missed or rejected

  • A missed task breaks the task streak.
  • A rejected task also breaks the streak because it was not accepted as complete.

Excused

  • The occurrence is skipped.
  • No S’mores are awarded.
  • The task streak and daily member streak are preserved.

Family Example

A bedtime task due at 8:00 PM is finished at 9:00 PM the same day and can still count. If it is marked complete the next morning, it does not restore the previous day’s streak.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Review one broken streak and decide whether the task needs a clearer time, reminder, or expectation.
