What Happens When Premium Ends?

When Premium ends, the family continues with S’moresUp Free.

The family does not need to create a new account.

Core family information remains connected to the family.

Premium Continues Through the Paid Period

If the family cancels a paid subscription, Premium normally stays active until the current billing period ends.

The exact end date appears in the billing provider’s subscription details.

Cancellation stops future renewal.

It does not usually remove Premium immediately.

What Is Preserved?

Current product behavior preserves:

  • Chores
  • Chore history
  • Wallet balances
  • Rewards
  • Calendar events
  • Family members
  • Family account access

The family can continue using Free.

What Free Includes

Free includes:

  • Individual chores
  • As Needed chores
  • Standard schedules
  • One reminder per chore
  • S’mores going into Spend
  • Reward Shelf
  • Family Calendar
  • Google Calendar sync
  • Smart appliance integrations
  • Campfire
  • Community

Premium-only controls may no longer be available or may behave differently.

Community Becomes Visible Again

If a Premium family used Turn off Community, that setting reverses after the move to Free.

The Community tab becomes visible again.

Campfire remains available.

Introductory Access and Extensions

When the first 45 days end, the family may receive:

  • An email
  • An in-app decision screen
  • An extension option, when eligible
  • A choice between Free and Premium

Current product direction allows up to three extensions for eligible families.

After the available extensions, the family chooses a plan.

Current Product Limitation

S’moresUp is still improving how Premium-created controls behave after a move to Free.

At this time, the product does not consistently map every Premium feature to a Free equivalent.

This means the Help Center should not promise that:

  • Rotate becomes Individual automatically
  • Multiple reminders become one
  • Custom schedules become standard schedules
  • S’mart Lists remain available
  • Premium reward controls convert cleanly
  • Every Premium setting is restored later

Core Data Is Not the Same as Premium Behavior

The family’s data is preserved.

The behavior of a Premium-created chore or reward may change because the control itself requires Premium.

Examples include:

  • Rotate
  • Collaborate
  • Compete
  • Bonus chores
  • Approval
  • Photo Proof
  • Lock
  • Late Penalty
  • Multiple reminders
  • Custom schedules
  • S’mart Lists
  • Reward Approval
  • Selected reward days
  • Auto Refill

Use the detailed downgrade article for the current limitations.

Resubscribing Later

The family can subscribe again later.

Current work is in progress to improve restoration of Premium settings.

Do not assume that every earlier Premium control will automatically return exactly as it was.

Review important chores and rewards after resubscribing.

Legacy Price

If the subscription ends, an eligible legacy price is lost.

A later subscription uses the current available price.

This applies even when the family’s chores and history are still preserved.

If Something Looks Wrong

Check:

  • Current plan
  • Subscription end date
  • Correct family
  • Chore type
  • Reminder count
  • Reward settings
  • Community visibility

Then contact support.

Include:

  • S’moresUp account email
  • Family name
  • Purchase provider
  • Premium end date
  • Screenshot
  • Name of the affected chore or reward
