How to Edit or Delete a Task

A task can stop working even when the original idea was good. The owner may change. The timing may be wrong. The task may be too broad. Editing one task is usually easier than rebuilding your whole setup.

Quick Start

  1. Open the task or use the task-card options.
  2. Change the name, owner, schedule, reminders, or other settings.
  3. Save the task and watch how it works for a few days.
  4. Delete it only when the family no longer needs it.

What parents can edit

  • Task name and instructions.
  • Category and assigned person.
  • Task type and schedule.
  • Due time and reminders.
  • S’mores value, approval, and photo proof.

Repeating tasks

  • An edit applies to the repeating task going forward.
  • A single occurrence cannot currently be edited separately.

Delete carefully

  • Deleting removes the task from the family setup.
  • If you only need to skip today, use Excuse instead.
  • Archive and task-level pause are not currently available.

Family Example

A task called Clean room keeps causing confusion. Change it to Put dirty clothes in hamper and set it for the evening. The smaller task may be easier to follow.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Pick one task that is not working and change only one setting today.
