How Advanced Task Schedules Work

Most family tasks work well with a simple daily or weekly schedule. Some responsibilities happen a certain number of times instead of on one fixed day. Advanced schedules help IAFT match those less predictable routines.

Quick Start

  1. Start with a simple schedule when possible.
  2. Use a custom frequency only when the task truly needs it.
  3. Choose how many times it should happen in the period.
  4. Review the first week to make sure the task appears as expected.

Available schedule patterns

  • Once, Daily, selected days, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly.
  • Custom schedules can use X times per day, week, month, quarter, or year.

Good uses

  • Practice an instrument three times a week.
  • Water a plant twice a month.
  • Complete a family check-in once per quarter.
  • Handle a seasonal task once a year.

Keep the setup understandable

  • A custom schedule should be easy to explain.
  • Use due times only when the individual occurrence has a real deadline.
  • If the schedule creates confusion, return to a simpler pattern.

Family Example

A child may practice piano three times each week without needing fixed weekdays. A custom weekly frequency can make that responsibility visible while leaving room for the family schedule.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Use an advanced schedule for only one task that cannot be represented clearly with a normal daily or weekly pattern.
