How Family Badges Work

Not every win fits inside a task or S’mores value. Family Badges give parents a way to recognize effort, kindness, responsibility, or another contribution that matters to the family.

Quick Start

  1. Open Badge Central.
  2. Choose a badge from the available Family Badge collection.
  3. Select the family member.
  4. Award the badge and explain what you noticed.

Who can receive a Family Badge

  • Children can receive them.
  • Adults and other parents can receive them too.

What families can choose

  • IAFT provides a pre-created badge collection.
  • Families cannot create custom badges at this time.

Use badges as recognition

  • Connect the badge to a specific action.
  • Recognize effort and contribution, not only perfect completion.
  • Do not use badges as another form of pressure.

Family Example

A parent awards a teamwork badge to an adult who handled school pickup during a difficult week, or to a child who helped a sibling without being asked.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Award one Family Badge for a specific contribution you noticed this week.
