Why Packs Are Read-Only

Packs and Challenges both help families find useful tasks, but they are designed for different kinds of participation.

Quick Start

  1. Open the Pack to review it.
  2. Copy a useful task into your family.
  3. Edit the family copy instead of the Pack.
  4. Return to the Pack later if you want the original idea again.

Why Packs stay read-only

  • They remain a stable source of task ideas.
  • One family’s edits do not change the Pack for others.
  • Challenge rules and task definitions remain consistent.

What you can edit

  • Once a task is added to your family, you can change its name, owner, schedule, reminders, S’mores, and advanced settings.

Family Example

A family changes a copied “Read 15 minutes” task to “Read before bed.” The Pack still keeps the original task.

Good to Know

  • Start with the smallest version that solves the problem.
  • Change one setting at a time so you can see what helped.
  • Missed days are information, not proof that your family failed.
  • Open Help in the IAFT app and send a message if something does not work as expected.

Best First Action

Personalize the copied task, not the original Pack.
