How to Change the Start of the Week and Calendar Display

S’moresUp lets the family choose whether the week begins on:

  • Sunday
  • Monday

The Calendar updates to match the family-level setting.

The family can also choose whether chores appear in the Calendar.

These settings help the view match how the household plans.

Choose Sunday or Monday

Use Sunday when the family thinks of the weekend as the start of a new week.

Use Monday when school and work planning begins on Monday.

There is no single correct choice.

Pick the one the family already uses.

Change the Week Start

The basic flow is:

  1. Open family or General Settings.
  2. Find the week-start setting.
  3. Choose Sunday or Monday.
  4. Save.
  5. Return to Calendar.
  6. Check the current week.

Exact menu names should be verified.

What the Setting Changes

The family week-start setting can affect:

  • Calendar layout
  • Current week display
  • Weekly planning
  • How the family reads date ranges
  • Weekly View orientation, where supported

It does not change the actual due dates of chores or events.

A Wednesday chore remains on Wednesday.

Show or Hide Chores

The family can choose whether chores appear in Calendar.

Turn chore display on when:

  • The family plans by time
  • Chores and events need to be seen together
  • The Calendar helps children understand the full day

Turn it off when:

  • Events become hard to see
  • Today’s Progress already handles chores
  • The Calendar looks crowded
  • Children confuse events and chores

Hiding chores does not delete them.

Landing Page

General Settings may also include a landing-page choice.

A family may prefer to open S’moresUp to the view they use most.

Examples:

  • Today’s Progress
  • Calendar
  • Another supported home view

Confirm the current available landing-page options before publication.

Child Chore Sorting

A setting may allow child chores to be sorted by category.

This can make daily responsibilities easier to scan.

Examples:

  • Morning
  • School
  • Pet Care
  • Evening

Category sorting affects display.

It does not change schedules, S’mores, or completion behavior.

Confirm current controls before adding exact steps.

Check the Result

After changing settings, review:

  • Calendar week start
  • Chore placement
  • Event placement
  • Member visibility
  • Today’s Progress
  • Weekly View
  • Child profile view

Family-level settings can affect more than one person.

Example

A family plans school and work from Monday through Sunday.

They choose Monday as the first day of the week.

They also turn on chore display because the children need to see:

  • School events
  • Practices
  • Time-sensitive chores

After one week, the Calendar feels too crowded.

The family keeps Monday as the week start but turns chore display off.

Common Problems

The Calendar still starts on the old day

Close and reopen the view, then confirm the saved family setting.

A chore moved to the wrong day

The week-start setting should not change the chore schedule. Check the chore itself.

The Calendar is crowded

Turn off chore display.

A child’s list is hard to scan

Review category sorting and active chores.

Different family members see different layouts

Confirm whether the setting is family-level and that everyone is in the same household.
